The next event has now been organised and a team for the recreation of the first ever match against Down has been selected...
Most members should be aware that on April 20th, the club will entertain a Down team in an effort to recreate the first ever game East Antrim played - 100 years ago.
The event is just one of many organised for the year. It will take place at the Valley Leisure Centre, starting at 2:30pm with free beer, soup and sandwiches in the Crown & Shamrock Public House afterwards.
The match is not a 1st XI v 1st XI game. Players have been selected FROM each of the three teams within the club. The theory is that as 1st XI players will get to entertain an Ulster Branch President's XI in August and an Exiles XI in October - they should not feel left out by their non-selection for this match.
Another factor was an attempt to get an even spread of age groups for the game. So each age GROUP is represented...
So... the following players are requested to have their kit washed and ironed for Saturday 20th. They are requested to be at the Valley Leisure Centre at 1:30pm for the usual photo opportunities. Everyone, however, is invited to attend the post-match reception at the Crown & Shamrock at 5pm.
