Match Report

By Kriss Leslie

A great performance from the Green Machine which we could’ve easily won. Parkview began on top, with East unable to find their feet early on. They opened the scoring during this period aswell, after a soft reserve hit found its way into the corner of the East net.

This spurred East into action however, and for the rest of the first half, the lads in Green played some fantastic hockey and had a lot of possession. After a few short corners, East were awarded a penalty flick after a short broke down and Kriss had his shot stopped by a foot on the line. Jamesy Greer was the man who stepped up to try to get East on level terms. And that he did, flicking the ball into the roof of the net in off the crossbar.

In the second half Parkview came back strongly at East having a number of chances, with a few good saves by Chris Blaney. Though again, East got it together and pushed forward, having a few more short corners. Alan Russell had a good attempt saved, and Kriss Leslie had a deflected effort go just over the bar. The pace of Alan Russell and Jamesy Greer continued to cause problems for the Parkview defence, just as it had done in the first half.

Parkview tried to get ahead again and became frustrated. However, unfortunatley after East went to sleep and let a long corner find its way into the circle too easily, Parkview scored the goal which would end up the winning one.

It was a good show from East, and we can count ourselves very unlucky to have ended the game with no points against a good Parkview side who have strengthened their squad during the summer. It was the kind of performance which we are capable of doing everyweek.
