Match Report

By Jack

Saturday saw the men in green finally get their points tally moving after a well deserved win against Omagh!

From the start of the match East took the initiative by controlling the possession and territory. Again it was a lack of finishing that meant we hadn’t taken the lead earlier than we did and also Omagh’s right hand post denied Burgess. The deadlock was broken when Menaul roofed the ball high into the net from close range while the Omagh keep was on the ground.

Omagh managed to get into the East half on the odd occasion but nothing came of it due to our defence being able to cope with all that they tried!

Our second goal came from a short corner. The initial shot from the top of the circle was saved by the Omagh keeper but the rebound feel to Burgess who drilled into the open goal!

Throughout the second half the game followed the path of the first onlt this time we failed to score.Again we hit the post this time from a Hermon short corner strike and from the rebound as his shot looked to be going into the top right corner the Omagh keeper pulled off a fine save.

As normal with every match there is always a 10-15 minute spell were we switch off and lose our concentration and against better opposition we may well be punished for it! The positives though to be taken from the game have to be the improved movement and pace of the ball getting from defence to forwards and the effort that everyone is showing!
